Traditional Talk Therapy

Whether you are struggling with anxious thinking, intrusive thoughts, depression, or life transitions, I can help.  Sometimes we need to know that we are seen and heard, and that our experiences are valid.  Other times, we might need help challenging our maladaptive thinking patterns.  This might look like traditional talk therapy and processing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or Solution-Focused Therapy.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma work with me typically entails a combination of modalities, usually EMDR, IFS, and talk therapy.  The clients I work with have often experienced a variety of traumatic events, from abuse to intense fears, from health scares to loss, from betrayal to familial estrangement, and everything in between.  In my experience, if it was traumatic to you, it is trauma.

Ambiguous Loss & Identity Work

I work with adoptees and people with unknown parentage (aka NPE's).  A person who doesn't know their own roots is like a leaf that doesn't know it's part of a tree.  There is a unique kind of pain that comes with the ambiguity of being an adoptee or not knowing one's biological family.  There is a sense of betrayal, abandonment, and loss for someone you've never known but feel a connection to.  Adoptees and NPEs all struggle with fundamentally not knowing who they are.  As an NPE myself, I am here to help you sort through and process these feelings as someone who "gets it."

Child and Family Therapy/Play Therapy

The foundation of my work with any child is building their emotional vocabulary.  We cannot expect children to tell us how they feel when they don't have the language to do so in the first place.  Play therapy with me feels just like that: play.  Children often don't even realize they are learning valuable tools to better help them label their emotions, while also working on building emotional regulation skills. My work with parents goes hand in hand with the child therapy.  It is often about psychoeducation and understanding your child's unique life stage and abilities, as well as working on things such as co-regulation and validation.
